Aluminum and enamel
3'x35'

Installed in December 2016 as part of "Art-N-Transit" in Aurora, Colorado during an interlude of unusually warm weather.  This visually engaging bas-relief portrays some of the fascinating heritage of the area and more specifically, the High-Line Canal; the piece aims to “bridge the canal with art” by creating a linear journey to be enjoyed while moving, as well as communicate the importance of water to the area.

“Echoes of the Range” is a groundbreaking contemporary artwork which breaks the traditional boundaries between inner and outer environments.  A life-sized herd of stylized horses peacefully meanders across the outer courtyard, through the glass and into the lobby of this state of the art government center.  This is a highly interactive installation as it invites exploration as viewers intermix with the work itself.

Thirteen life-size horses gallop through the center of this popular nature center in the Denver-Aurora metropolitan area. These silhouettes are constructed of weathering and stainless steel. This has been an extremely well received installation that encompasses the entire area. The power, movement and energy have to be experienced to be believed.

120% life-size 13' tall

The Nation's first major monument to honor America's Special Operations response to 9/11, "De Oppresso Liber" (motto, U.S. Army Special Forces meaning, "liberate the oppressed") casts an eternally vigilant eye on the hallowed ground zero site.  This piece represents American Green Berets riding into combat on horseback in Afghanistan in 2002, the first Americans to do so in over fifty years.  The culmination of almost a decade of research, the sculpture was created in close cooperation with the actual "horse soldiers" and U.S. Special Operations command.

Rancho Santa Fe, CA - Private Collector
Edition of 10
Life size 9'x3'x3'
Bronze

This larger-than-life black panther was a site-specific piece for this garden pond. The treatment chosen was a blend I can best describe as “stylistic realism”. I felt the power and sinuous movement of this animal would be lost by using too realistic a style. All the muscles and planes were stylized and smoothed to help accentuate the “flow” of this cat.

dance of life

Davidson Town Hall – Davidson, NC.
2015
Bronze, aluminum and stainless steel
15’x12’x10’

“Dance of Life” is fascinating both artistically and technically.  Using powerful imagery and movement, this piece is intended as an unabashed celebration of life.  Utilizing contrasting materials and textures, “Dance of Life” was a technical challenge due to the cantilevered design requiring massive internal structures.  This piece is a refreshingly optimistic work of abstraction that has engaged a wide and diverse audience.

Commissioned by:  City Creek Reserve, Inc.

A “walk-through” artwork in an entryway corridor; this piece is a dynamic, almost living entity; multiple flights of varying species of stylized bird sculptures winging their way into, through and encompassing the entire area with an energy and intensity similar to water rushing through a chasm.

April 2011
Commissioned by:  Grace Fellowship Church, Florence KY.
Aluminum plate and polyester resin

Created specifically for this site, this monumentally scaled suspended piece seems to defy gravity as it hovers over the stage.  A complex interior lighting system dramatically refracts light upon backdrop wall.  This concept was intended to convey many layers of meaning through the symbiosis of sculpture and light.  Created from aluminum clad in sculpted layers of polyester resin and faux-painted bronze, this piece is substantially lighter than a true bronze version would be, and is hence, more suitable for suspension.

The overarching theme is a wildly exuberant expression of hope, freedom and joy.  This artwork radiates, exudes and shouts uplifting energy from every facet and angle.  This piece is so uniquely interactive that even when viewed repeatedly, it will be experienced differently and more deeply each time.

This ambitious piece required over three years to complete.  A 12th centruy mounted Samurai is portrayed with incredible attention to detail and historical fidelity.  Perched on a wind-whipped mountainside, the archer prepares to loose a signaling arrow into the abyss below.  Because of the amount of work involved to create each piece, only seven castings will ever be produced, each one utilizing a different yet authentic color scheme.  Prices and availability on request.
